Worship
Our church community is blessed with diversity both in membership and in worship opportunities. On Sunday, September 12, we will begin a new worship and education schedule for the 2010-2011 program year. We are aware that this new schedule will involve compromise for many but we hope that all will work together to make our Sunday mornings a time of meaningful and comfortable worship, fellowship and education. Welcome!
Please check back for more information on our new service formats, educational opportunities, and times.
9:30 am Traditional Worship
(nursery care provided)
Here is the service that inspired the tradition of excellence in worship at Boise First. This service provides an opportunity to gather with a larger congregation worshipping in our beautiful sanctuary. Led by Pastor Kim and our talented Music Ministry, this worship experience includes all the traditional aspects of worship, enhanced by the presence of vocal and bell choirs, and instrumentalists. This service is usually 60-70 minutes in length.
10:30 am Open Fellowship Time
(nursery care provided)
Visit with your fellow church goers – make new friends and chat with old friends.
10:45 am Sunday School (& Adult Ed. when offered)
(nursery care provided)
Classes for kids from preschool to high school are always offered. Adult Education topics vary and have included: bible study, justice, community action, other religions, and our environment.
11:30 am Contemporary Worship
(nursery care provided)
In keeping with contemporary worship services that are blossoming throughout the UCC, Boise First now has such an opportunity for our community. Making use of the rich resources provided by our denomination, the Worship Team, assisted by Pastor Kim, work to create an open, praise-filled worship environment in our beautiful sanctuary. The music is contemporary in style, with a praise band (One Peace!) leading the singing. The atmosphere is relaxed. Children and young people are welcome and included in the worship. Most of the “traditional” elements of the worship experience are present, such as the scripture readings and Sermon, but new forms of expression are also included – such as the opportunity to light candles during the prayers of intercession. The service is usually 60-70 minutes in length.
Baby & Parent Room
If parents or their very young ones need a break during worship services, our baby room is available. The room at the top of the stairs in the northwest corner of the building has been cleaned and freshly painted by the Deacons and is furnished with a changing table, a crib, a rocking chair and now has live broadcast sound of the worship services.
Nursery care is also available in the next room from 9:30 am to 12:30 on Sundays.
Two different services
Many different opportunities to experience that God is still speaking. We invite you to experiment – try both services and see which one is right for you. You may be surprised – very often, the worship style we least expect to speak to our heart is where we hear God’s voice the clearest.
We hope to schedule several opportunities each year where the services are merged into one great Sunday Worship Celebration, followed by a potluck fellowship meal. This way, we can remember that despite our different worship preferences, we are still one congregation.
Questions?
If you have any questions, please speak with Pastor Kim, or the Deacons. If you are not familiar with our church and your first contact with us is online: We would be pleased to hear from you! Please let us know what your needs and questions are, we will be more than happy to help.
